Miner & Miner Long-Time Employee
Serves as GITA Conference 26 Chair

Fort Collins, CO -- Susan Powell, a long-time Miner & Miner employee and an avid contributor to the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA), serves as the 26th conference chair. Ms. Powell has been with Miner & Miner since May of '92 serving as the Director of Marketing for over seven years and as the Director of Operations since October 1999.

Ms. Powell's involvement with GITA has evolved and grown over the years. As a five-year Conference Committee member, she contributed to helping GITA's mission in providing excellence in education and information exchange on the use and benefits of geospatial information and technology.

For GITA Conference 25, Ms. Powell served as the Conference Co-Chair, and this year is honored to act as the Chairperson for the San Antonio conference. Over these five years, Ms. Powell has volunteered and put forth a significant amount of time and energy to this organization, assisting each year in the assimilation and coordination of new content. The committee helps develop stimulating topics, obtain novel speakers, and produce new material for each annual conference program.

GITA is the world's premier non-profit educational association focusing on Automated Mapping and Facilities Management (AM/FM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and related geospatial information technology applications for utilities, government agencies and other organizations. GITA serves the electric, gas, water/wastewater utilities, along with telecommunications companies, public works/local government, and oil and gas pipelines. These types of infrastructure-based organizations can benefit from the application of geospatial information technologies through improved efficiency of business operations and processes.

GITA's annual conference is considered one of the leading educational events for professionals involved in geospatial information technology. Held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, the conference has as its theme this year “Wide Open Spatial Frontiers: Adding Value to Your Business”. The program offers diverse technical sessions, along with 14 comprehensive half-day seminars, based on three specific drivers: Business, Technology, and Subject Matter.

“We are very proud of Susan's role in the GITA organization,” said Jeff Meyers, Miner & Miner's president. “Her contribution conveys Miner & Miner's dedication to the mission of relaying information and the outstanding education GITA brings forth. We are pleased that Susan's involvement and extensive experience is contributing to the GIS industry.”
