Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative selects the ArcFM Solution and PragmaLINE Solutions
Electric cooperative chooses Miner & Miner technology to implement GIS and integrate with CGI's OMS
Fort Collins, CO -- Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative
(SMECO), an electric cooperative serving more than 130,000 customers, has
chosen the turnkey solution proposed by CGI and Miner & Miner. This
solution is based on Miner & Miner's ArcFM™ Solution to provide an
integrated ESRI-based geographic information system (GIS) with CGI's
PragmaLINE Outage Management Solution (OMS). SMECO has provided power to
residential, commercial, and industrial customers in southern Maryland for
more than 60 years.
SMECO will migrate from their existing legacy system to the enterprise
solution of ArcFM, Designer, Network Adapter, and Conduit Manager. In
addition, SMECO will replace their in-house-developed trouble call logging
system with CGI's real-time PragmaLINE OMS solution. M&M will develop
a GIS interface to PragmaLINE to support keeping the electric distribution
data up to date. The entire solution will provide SMECO the ability to
support single point of entry for design, staking, planning, and OMS. The
solution will interface to the work management application, WMIS from
LogicaCMG, to support design initiation & closing and job status
updates. The solution will also interface to SynerGEE's application from
Advantica Stoner to support engineering analysis of the GIS network.
The complete GIS and staking solution will enable designers to provide
a streamlined and cost-effective way to enter in new services and line
extensions and will support up to 35 designers/staking users, 10 GIS edit
users, and approximately 200 web-enabled casual users. SMECO will have a
totally integrated solution that manages the electric network model from
initiation and design to call management and incident management.
