Miner & Miner Launches Responder 8.3.2

GIS-hosted Outage Management System Now Available

Fort Collins, CO -- Miner & Miner (M&M) announces the release of Responder 8.3.2, a GIS-hosted, distributed Outage Management System (OMS) as part of the ArcFM Solution. Responder is a simple-to-use OMS based on ESRI's ArcGIS that is very easily implemented and has been developed to be scalable, extensible, and sustainable.

The Responder product allows utilities to realize improvements in all critical business areas including customer service, safety, regulatory compliance, and operations. Featuring an analysis engine that receives and analyzes all trouble calls, Responder uses a sophisticated and iterative prediction algorithm to determine which interruptible network device caused an outage. Utilizing near-real time operation with fast and efficient updates, the high performance GIS display capabilities allow utility personnel to have a spatial view of the locations of trouble calls enabling the immediate dispatching of crews. Its user-friendly interface and intuitive menus allow dispatchers to perform their tasks quickly and efficiently, thus restoring power as fast as possible and making precise choices on where to dispatch crews for maximum impact based on both geographical and tabular data.

A key advantage of Responder is its use of an existing ArcFM GIS database. Other systems use a separate database requiring integration and transformation before GIS data can be used for OMS. Responder simplifies both the implementation and on-going support of OMS data, because it automatically incorporates changes made to the ArcFM GIS into the OMS database.

Responder makes use of the utility geodatabase, open architecture, non-proprietary programming languages and Microsoft's COM and .NET development frameworks to greatly simplify integration, configuration, and customization. The ability to interface Responder with Customer Information System (CIS), SCADA, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), and work management systems creates a sophisticated enterprise outage management environment.

“We are very excited to offer our users another business critical solution for utilities,” says Jeff Meyers, President. “Responder provides emergency network response that can be implemented simply and sustained at a very low cost for improved reliability and customer service at significant savings.”
