Osmose and Miner & Miner Team to Offer "Single-Source" GIS/Data Solution
Comprehensive New Solution Features Advanced Mobile Data Collection and Out-of-the-Box ArcFM MultiSpeak2-Compliant Technology
Buffalo, NY-Fort Collins, CO -- Osmose Utilities Services, Inc.
and Miner & Miner today announced a formal business alliance designed
to offer a cost-effective method for collection of facility data combined
with the bundled services of Miner & Miner's MultiSpeak2-compliant
ArcFM™ product, an ESRI-based AM/FM/GIS system. This integrated turnkey
solution will allow utilities to implement an affordable GIS solution and
populate it with high-quality field data.
Osmose, a leader in field data-collection services for power utilities,
will coordinate all collection of data that will feed the ArcFM system.
Miner & Miner, a world leader in development of GIS solutions for
utilities, has developed an off-the-shelf ArcFM Solution specifically
aimed at the needs of cooperative, municipal, and comparable utilities.
The two companies are combining their different areas of expertise to
offer a one stop comprehensive data and software solution that will
yield important business and operational benefits.
Osmose field crews, trained in overhead facility recognition and
automated field data-capture, are deployed across North America. The
FastGate Mobile software used by Osmose crews allows capture of a wide
range of network information, and the PDA hardware used in the collection
process can be equipped with an integrated digital camera and GPS unit
where required.
One of the big benefits of this new solution, said Phil Halsch, Vice
President of Data Services Sales at Osmose, is that rural utilities,
co-ops, and municipalities can go to a single source to acquire accurate
facility data in the industry's premier GIS. For many utilities, it's hard
to assemble the required personnel, expertise, equipment, software, and
other resources needed to do a field survey and to implement a
full-featured GIS. Osmose and Miner & Miner are providing the complete
package. This is truly a turnkey solution, and Osmose supports it one
hundred percent.
The ArcFM MultiSpeak Solution, based on the industry-leading ESRI
ArcGIS product, is pre-configured and includes a set of basic services for
deployment of the application. A MultiSpeak interface is provided to
support Engineering Analysis using Network Adapter. The Solution can also
be extended to include Designer, an integrated design package, and
Responder, a GIS-based outage management system.
This new one-source option allows utilities to get industry-leading
GIS functionality and the high-quality data needed to drive it
effectively, states Jeff Meyers, President of Miner & Miner. The
solution is designed with affordability and ease of implementation in
mind. The data model used for data-collection in the field is the same
data model used by the ArcFM product, which saves time and streamlines the
GIS implementation.
