NOVEC Selects ArcFM™ & Designer
Virginia not-for-profit cooperative chooses Miner & Miner’s ArcFM Solution as their GIS asset management and design solution
Fort Collins, CO -- Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC), the 10th largest cooperative in the United States, has chosen ArcFM and Designer for an enterprise GIS asset management and design solution. The not-for-profit corporation serves more than 125,000 homes and businesses in a 651-square-mile region of Northern Virginia.
NOVEC is experiencing unprecedented growth, significantly increasing new construction workload in both residential and commercial sectors. This record growth, as well as the number of disparate systems currently in use, prompted NOVEC to select the ArcFM Solution. It will provide a comprehensive, technical solution that meets both the utility’s present and future requirements for design, engineering, network, connectivity, and workflow management. The scalability of the solution also allows positioning for additional enhancements such as mobile applications and enterprise-wide system applications. The ArcFM Solution will be integrated with Logica’s Work Management Information System (WMIS) for management of construction materials, costing, crew scheduling, and job closeout.
The NOVEC project is scheduled for completion at the end of July 2006. At the time of rollout, 23 designers and 5 editors will utilize the new system to manage projects from inception and design to as-built and production, as well as create and maintain electrical network maps and connectivity relationships for NOVEC’s service area.
Bob Bisson, VP of Electric Systems Development at NOVEC, stated, We are confident that we will be able to successfully implement the re-engineered business processes that will enhance overall productivity, reduce design time, and improve distribution system data quality.
