Swedish Utilities leverage ArcFM within the MELDIS Application Suite
Umea Energy, Gavle Energy, and Sandviken Energy upgrade to an ArcFM-based Solution
Fort Collins, CO -- MELDIS AB, a Swedish OEM partner of Miner
& Miner, has embedded ArcFM technology into their application suite as
part of their upgraded solution for the Swedish utility market. The first
three sites to migrate to the ArcGIS/ArcFM-based MELDIS product are Umea
Energy, Gavle Energy, and Sandviken Energy.
Both Umea Energy and Gavle Energy are located in northern Sweden and
serve approximately 100,000 residents with electricity, heating and fiber
optics. Sandviken Energy provides 25,000 residents in the middle region of
Sweden with energy and water/wastewater services. The utilities each have
more than 100 seats of the new MELDIS application, which leverage many
out-of-the-box components integral to ArcFM, as well as customized
functionality that has been added for more advanced tracing, custom query
& locate, and Swedish-specific network calculations. All of the
utilities manage enterprise systems and use the MELDIS technology to
support in-house editing, mobile viewing, maintenance activities, and
network documentation through one centralized system.
At each of the sites, training, configuration, and data migration are
being completed. The final migration will be complete in September
2004.
Our partnership with Miner & Miner, and the integration of ArcFM
components into the MELDIS solution for infrastructure, have made it
possible to shorten development and implementation times considerably,
said Björn Persson, president of MELDIS AB. As we see it, ArcFM addresses
productivity, workflow management and analysis-oriented areas in the
utility industry where traditional GIS-technology has shortfalls. Miner
& Miner's long tradition within this sector has led to the development
of a strong AM/FM solution which benefits our MELDIS customers in Sweden.
