Hydro One Networks Selects Miner & Miner's Designer
Hydro One Networks brings state-of-the-art design capabilities to its
business operations
Fort Collins, CO -- Hydro One Networks Inc., one of North
America's largest electricity delivery companies, has selected Miner &
Miner's (M&M) Designer product to improve the asset management and
design process of its distribution assets. Hydro One Networks will be
implementing the Designer product across the company over the next few
years.
As an Asset Management company, with a focus on effective operations
and service delivery, Hydro One Networks was looking for the type of
system that would fit its Asset/Work Management Initiative. "While gaining
better knowledge about our assets was our primary motivation, the
strengths of the Designer product also provide significant efficiencies in
the Company's distribution design process", says Hitesh Seth, the
Company's Director of Information Management/Information Technology.
"We are delighted to add Hydro One Networks as our newest client", says
Jeff Meyers, President and CEO of Miner & Miner. "This project will
constitute one of the largest geographic implementations of our products
to date." Miner & Miner will assist with the implementation at Hydro
One Networks' Toronto location.
With its business focused on planning, building, managing, and
maintaining electricity transmission and distribution networks that serve
Ontario's residential and business community, Hydro One Networks selected
ESRI's ArcGIS product suite after a competitive bid process in 2000.
Following that, M&M and ESRI Canada helped Hydro One Networks conduct
an extensive pilot project in 2001, using Designer software. The
successful pilot led to this initial acquisition of the Designer software.
Additional licenses will be deployed as the project continues to move
through a phased implementation plan. Included in the initial
implementation will be the integration of Designer into a work management
system to enhance the Company's workflow and estimating process. Hydro One
Networks may also consider taking this technology to the field in the
future, making it possible for design and asset management to be handled
remotely.
