El Paso Electric Company Selects ArcFM™ Solution for Integrated GIS and Graphical Design
Not-for-profit utility selects GIS-based OMS and leverages enterprise solution
Fort Collins, CO -- El Paso Electric Company (EPE) has selected
Miner & Miner's ArcFM Solution together with ESRI's ArcGIS®
core technology to provide a streamlined system for facility management
and design for their Transmission & Distribution unit. EPE, a Texas
corporation, generates and distributes electricity to 330,000 customers in
western Texas and southern New Mexico.
The ArcFM Solution, including ArcFM, Designer, Conduit Manager, and
Network Adapter, will be implemented on an integrated platform to enable
EPE to extend and maintain their network. The solution will interface to
the work management application STORMS™ from Worksuite, to
support design initiation and closing, job status updates, and estimate
the cost and time and materials for new construction to ensure adherence
to EPE standards. The solution will also interface to the
Windmil® application from Milsoft to support engineering
analysis of the GIS network.
The project began in January 2005. Data conversion is scheduled to be
complete in the fall and the rollout for Designer begins in the Las
Cruces, NM area in April 2006.
The complete ArcGIS and ArcFM Solution will enable designers to provide
a streamlined and cost effective way to enter in new services and line
extensions and will support up to 50 designers, 8 editors, and
approximately 240 web-enabled casual users.
We're excited about the opportunities the ArcGIS/ArcFM Solution
functionality will afford us, said Richard Swartz, Director of
Distribution Design and Delivery. The ArcFM Solution will streamline El
Paso Electric business processes and improve data integrity.
