Dalton Utilities in Production with ArcFM 9.0.1
Fort Collins, CO -- Dalton Utilities, a municipal utility serving Dalton, Georgia, the carpet capital of the world, migrated to ArcFM 9.0.1 in September. The utility is one of the first to move to the latest Miner & Miner and ESRI platform.
Dalton Utilities has used ArcFM technology for their electric, gas, water, and wastewater utilities since 1999 and has actively utilized the application for digitizing maps and maintaining infrastructure. The GIS database is also used in their control center, a 24-hour manned site, to provide a geographical representation of their service area. They have incorporated a customized interface to a Foxboro SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) System to monitor the condition of their off-site facilities, such as pump stations, lift stations, water tanks, and other operational facilities. This interface also enables Dalton Utilities’ engineers to access live infrastructure data in a web-based format.
Miner & Miner completed the data conversion from ArcFM 8, including updating the hardware server, in under a week.
The ArcFM 9.0.1 set of tools within the ArcGIS environment provides Dalton Utilities with a more efficient way to manage our infrastructure. ArcFM 9.0.1 increases productivity in the editing process. Our mapping personnel now have an improved as-built updating process which allows them to post those changes to the database and allows them to have less over-the-shoulder time with our engineers, said Chris Bollwerk, Manager of Mapping/Locating, Dalton Utilities.
