CoServ Selects Miner & Miner's Responder as Outage Management System

Not-for-profit utility selects GIS-based OMS and leverages enterprise solution

Fort Collins, CO -- CoServ Electric, a not-for-profit utility co-op serving Northern Texas for more than 65 years, has selected Responder for their Outage Management System (OMS). The co-op serves 105,000 electric retail and business customers in a service area including parts of Collin, Denton, Wise, Cooke, Grayson, and Tarrant counties.

CoServ implemented ArcFM in 2003 for management of their distribution network. By selecting Responder, they will leverage their existing GIS data and systems, minimizing risk and expediting the implementation. The solution will also allow the co-op to provide quick, accurate predictions for efficient power restoration during outages.

CoServ will begin implementing Responder in January 2005 and expects to be in production by May. The electric operations group, including three to five operators, will employ the technology to locate outages and dispatch crews.

“Straight-forward user interface, rapid implementation, GIS-centric approach, and scalability were among the many reasons Responder was selected,” said John Long, Manager of Information Services for CoServ.
