Miner & Miner's 8.3 ArcFM™ Solution Now Available for Utilities

Enhanced solution for energy and water/wastewater utilities provides additional functionality

Fort Collins, CO -- Miner & Miner (M&M) announces the release of the ArcFM Solution 8.3 for electric, gas, and water/wastewater utilities. This latest version expands existing functionality and offers the broadest GIS enterprise solution for utilities on the market.

The 8.3 ArcFM Solution incorporates ArcFM, Designer, ArcFM Viewer, Conduit Manager, and Network Adapter solution components. It is certified against ESRI's ArcGIS 8.3 and 8.2 family of products. The 8.3 ArcFM Solution is M&M's ninth major release on the ArcGIS 8 platform. This release also includes new online Help features significant to the user community.

The following updated components of the ArcFM Solution include:

ArcFM 8.3

ArcFM 8.3 is a complete enterprise utility solution for modeling, editing, managing, and maintaining facility and land base information for electric, gas, and water/wastewater utilities.

ArcFM 8.3 includes enhancements to Map Production that provide a fully exposed API (application programming interface) which allows for greater flexibility in developing automated mapping and plotting solutions. In addition, users now have the ability to organize map sets into map books. ArcFM now supports tracing for water distribution networks. Several additional ArcFM tools have been added to ArcCatalog to better support configuration management and business rule definitions.

Designer 8.3

Designer 8.3 is an integrated environment for preparing construction work sketches and job cost estimates. It also provides an automated means to update the baseline corporate GIS database.

Designer 8.3 introduces many more enhancements, among them the ability to copy designs. Users may select whether to copy the new design to an existing work request or a new one, whether or not to include compatible units, and how many copies to make.

The Extended Data Manager offers users a generic editor to create, maintain, and configure data specific to their work management system.

Additional Structural Analysis functions have been added, including cross arm loading and ruling span calculations. These allow users to add cross arm framing to their support structures.

Overall improved workflow and management of compatible units have also been addressed.

Network Adapter 8.3

Miner & Miner's Network Adapter 8.3 provides utilities with a convenient, seamless interface between the ArcFM solution and third-party modeling & planning applications or analysis engines. As feeders are modified, planners can quickly analyze the network with analysis software and display the results directly in the GIS workspace.

Network Adapter 8.3 now includes a framework for exporting to a format compliant with the MultiSpeak 2.0 model.

“Miner & Miner provides users with a state-of-the-art solution for utilities,” said Mike Daniels, Miner & Miner VP of Product Development. “The 8.3 ArcFM Solution provides utilities with functionality that our users identified as vital and critical to their business functions. It makes for a powerful solution.”
