Ministry of Electricity and Water in Production with Telvent Miner & Miner’s ArcFM™ Solution

Fort Collins, CO -- The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW), Kingdom of Bahrain, has initiated its first steps towards moving into production mode with Telvent Miner & Miner’s ArcFM™ Solution.

During the fall of 2005, MEW selected ESRI ArcGIS® technology along with the ArcFM Solution. They have recently deployed 26 seats of ArcFM to support basic map viewing and editing of their electric and water transmission and distribution networks.

MEW services all of the Kingdom of Bahrain and is responsible for the production, transmission, distribution, billing, and revenue collection for water and electricity through an interconnected system to around 250,000 customers.

The enterprise GIS project has allowed MEW to integrate key asset information for both electrical and water transmission and distribution networks. The project has also established Enterprise GIS capability within multiple Directorates in the Ministry to support long term strategic planning and key business processes. By covering simultaneously different pillars (such as assets, applications, core competencies, business processes, IT Infrastructure), the project will allow the utility to benefit from improved efficiencies as a result of having a common, integrated facility database and applications that will be interfaced with other business systems. MEW will soon be making use of several custom ArcFM autoupdaters to support their business rules as well as additional data maintenance tools, composite favorites, and templates to improve productivity.
