Consumers Energy in Production with
Telvent’s Responder
One of the US’s largest utilities goes live with GIS-based OMS for more efficient outage restoration
Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, is pleased to announce that Consumers Energy is in full production with the Responder outage management system (OMS). The OMS ensures efficient outage restoration, and has extended the utility’s existing ArcFM™-based GIS solution, allowing Consumers to visualize and locate power outages throughout the network.
Consumers Energy of Jackson, Michigan, is one of the nation’s largest combination utilities, providing electric and natural gas service to more than six million of the state’s 9.5 million residents in all 68 counties of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.
Responder enables the utility to better serve its client base by providing the capability to automatically display real-time outages, dispatch crews, manage switching plans, and provide reporting of reliability indices and historical outage information. The software also has integration with Consumers Energy’s enterprise applications, including SAP’s customer service and work management systems, which leverage IVR and mobile crew management communication. Over 40 system controllers and dispatchers are currently using the OMS in daily operations.
