Smart Grid Solution Analyst

Position Summary & Major Responsibilities

The role of the Smart Grid Solution Analyst is to provide technical guidance for smart grid activities surrounding the implementation and integration of Telvent's Distribution Management System (DMS), Outage Management System (OMS), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and Meter Data Management system (MDM) solutions, and to work with clients, colleagues, and sub-contractors to deliver successful AMI solutions. This position will be a resource of subject matter expertise for the application of Smart Grid technology within a utility organization.

The Smart Grid Solution Analyst will lead or actively participate in project tasks with the following responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for Smart Grid implementation activities.
  • Lead design workshops for electric utility distribution market domains.
  • Demonstrate and configure Smart Grid Solution software including DMS, OMS, AMI, MDM solutions.
  • Provide recommendations for application, solution architecture, and integration design.
  • Define and document customer requirements including business processes.
  • Work with team members to develop detailed component specifications.
  • Coordinate sub-contractors in meter, network, and application deployment activities.
  • Develop and execute Test and Acceptance plans.
  • Provide project implementation support.
  • Serve as an internal Smart Grid subject matter expert.

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant job experience; BS in Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science, or other bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working directly with utility organizations in the implementation of AMI or OMS applications.
  • Direct electric utility distribution experience preferred.
  • Network design experience with point-to-point and mesh networks.
  • Field implementation experience.
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcInfo and other ESRI products is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time.
