GIS Programmer

Position Summary & Major Responsibilities

This position is responsible for creation, support and maintenance of custom software GIS applications used by Telvent Energy clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent object-oriented programming, problem-solving, and client relation skills.

Telvent Miner & Miner has a career opportunity for a motivated person to join our Application Services Team. This person will have strong software engineering skills and GIS experience to work as a member of our project consulting team. This individual will perform a variety of tasks relating to implementing and customizing desktop, mobile and server-based applications for energy exploration, production, pipeline, transmission and distribution solutions in the Energy and Utility sectors. This individual will play a role in the development of new tools and the enhancement of existing software.

Education & Experience Preferred

• Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, engineering, or geography (or related field with computer emphasis). Relevant job experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with ESRI GIS products and solutions. Experience with Smallworld or Intergraph will also be considered.
• Experience developing end-user applications and interfaces with an object-oriented programming language such as C# for both the desktop and web.
• Experience with commercial RDBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server preferred.
• Experience working with petroleum, pipeline, electric, gas, water and wastewater utility companies preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Applied language skills with Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) are beneficial but not required.
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally 20% of the time.
