Custom Support Analyst

Position Summary & Major Responsibilities

TM&M has a career opportunity for a motivated person to work as a member of our Application Services technical support team. This individual will have the skill to solve internal and external technical issues ranging across database configuration, software defects, and education.

This position is responsible for ongoing support and maintenance of custom software GIS applications used by electric, gas, water and wastewater utility clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent object-oriented programming, problem-solving, and client relation skills.

Custom Support Analysts work independently and as members of a small team to resolve technical issues for clients. This person will serve as one of the main contacts to a client base that is knowledgeable, technical, and often in operation-critical functions at utility companies. This person will play a significant role in creating and maintaining the client relationship that is valuable to our organization. Custom Support Analysts use their skills to solve internal and external technical issues ranging across database configuration, software defects, and education.

  • Provide technical assistance on supported application software for internal and external clients.
  • Troubleshoot possible software bugs with subject matter experts and developers, and log software bugs with development team.
  • Create workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed and ensures issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Escalate urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources.
  • Report client functionality requests or software change requests to development team.
  • Contribute to knowledge base of resolution paths and known issues accessible both internally and externally.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science degree in CIS preferred, or related field with computer emphasis.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, research skills.
  • Must have experience in Windows-based software development tools, including Visual Studio. Experience in both Visual Basic and C# a plus.
  • High level of professionalism in oral and written communication skills.
  • Be independent, self-motivated, team player and have a people-oriented personality.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact with peers, management, and other departments in a professional manner.
  • Prior experience with GIS software preferred and experience with ArcFM Solution software a plus.
  • Prior Technical Support/Help Desk experience a plus.
  • Experience working with electric, gas, water and wastewater utility companies a plus.
