Position Summary & Major Responsibilities
The essential responsibility of the Business Analyst is to provide technical guidance for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) implementation activities and to work with clients, coworkers, and sub-contractors to deliver successful AMI solutions. This position will be a resource of subject matter expertise for how AMI technology is applied within a utility organization.
The Business Analyst will support projects by leading or participating actively in project tasks such as the following:
- Provide technical leadership for AMI implementation activities.
- Lead design workshops for Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution market domains.
- Demonstrate and present Smart Grid Solution software, including components such as meter data management and/or head-end systems.
- Provide recommendations for application and solution architecture design.
- Define and document customer requirements including business processes.
- Work with team members to develop Component Specifications.
- Configure Smart Grid Solution software.
- Coordinate sub-contractors in AMI meter, network, and application deployment activities.
- Develop and execute Test and Acceptance plans.
- Provide general software support.
- Serve as an internal AMI subject matter expert.
Education & Experience Preferred
- BS degree in Engineering, Telecommunication, Computer Science or relevant job experience with a minimum of 3 years experience.
- Experience working directly with utility organizations in the implementation of AMI applications.
- Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution experience.
- Network design experience with point-to-point and mesh networks.
- Field implementation experience.
- Experience with GIS software such as ArcInfo and other ESRI products is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time.
